 Today I have a pair of brooches-a bell and a tree. Both are unsigned.

I had written this post before the latest terror attack in the UK happened, so I wanted to point out that the whimsical tone isn't exactly syncing with my mood at the moment. To be honest, I don't know if I'm angry or sad. I'd hope it is the latter, but it is difficult as a parent to once again watch young people out living their lives being targeted for violence. I don't know why it makes a difference-murder is murder, but it seems so much crueler directed at people just starting out. I want to try and understand how hopelessness turns to murder, but I can't. I do know it isn't something inherent in an ethnicity, religion, or economic status that persuades people  to carry out these acts-and that's terrifying. We want simple explanations of the sort we get from politicians (which have become all that much simpler in both senses of the word thanks to the limitations of Twitter) so we can be reassured these actions are the behaviour of a cultural and ideo...

Somebunny Loves This Time of Year

Spring is (sorta) here and I'm jumping for joy. Actually, that's more of a wobble for joy as my foot is still in the boot (going on 5 weeks now) and I don't want to risk further injury. Anyway, between the snow showers that melt as quickly as they fall, we've had some lovely warmer temperatures. I always look forward to wearing my linen blouse for the first time each season. At  this point I think of the boot as a fashion statement. I am able to walk easily now, though the toes and top of my foot are still dreadfully bruised and swollen. Most days, I forget I have the boot on unless someone asks what happened. Anyway, everything is moving forward and that's all I can ask. Macbeth

Apologies for the crappy phone camera photos. If you're interested, I posted a video of it at  Instagram .  I used spray-on food colouring instead of icing for the castle which gave it a great, stone look. I would definitely buy that product again.  "Can't you do anything  right?! Fine. I'll finish it myself." I had to do a classic ghost wearing a bedsheet because I have a strange sense of humour, but at least I made his sheet tartan.  ...and the witches. "By the pricking of my thumbs, etc. etc"  Poor guy. For extra fun, Danny put his baseball shaped bank ("Ball-O", yeah, he needs to work on better names) into the scene because the only thing that could make Macbeth better is baseball.  Anyway, that was my birthday. I learned a few things making this cake (scale, for example) and feel completely ready to take on Richard III and Hamlet. If I have a castle pan, I'm going to use it.
