Double Your Pleather

Over-the-knee boots aren't typically my thing, but these are so trashy  I made an exception. I'm not sure if there's a good way to wear them other than perhaps with leggings, but I went with an otherwise not-too-racy outfit to counter the impact of the "Fuck-Me" boots.  The 80's silk blouse had very large shoulder pads, which I removed. The blouse buttons up the back with tiny buttons which is a bit of a pain, but I can do them up halfway and pull it over my head before buttoning the top. I don't know why buttons up the back keep coming back in fashion, but they're having another moment, so it was time to wear the blouse. Rocktoberfest-Autumn Neutrals Edition

Whew, what a nice but busy weekend I had! There was opera, baseball, baking, running and even time for a spot of thrifting. Can't find fault with any of it...well, it would have been nice if our team won, but you can't have everything. I did well in the thrifts and I will have some interesting pieces to show you in coming posts. I've been trying to avoid buying all but the very best pieces as I absolutely need nothing.  Good thing the shops have been generously offering up the very best stuff! I did resist buying more pottery... not easily done . I could buy a complete China service for what I spent on four pair of tights at Target today. Yeah, but I can't wear a salad plate under a skirt, 'ya know? I wasn't sure if I'd ever shown this Mexican tourist jacket on the blog, so I wanted to make certain the back was photographed as well. The sun thwarted our attempts at a detailed photo, but I think you can get the idea. The jacket is made of felt anf the flowers...

Hell's Freezing Over and Polyester is Wrinkling

When I saw this loteria  skirt on Etsy, I knew I had to have it. Unfortunately, it arrived with issues.   I understand that can happen, and the seller has made an appropriate adjustment. I'm going to re-hem it so the pattern is even (turning it into a mini). I still love the print, and I'm sure it will get many years of wear.  Anyhoo, I'm still struggling getting dressed due to the strange weather and my own discomfort. Nothing feels right, though I seem to have most of my swelling in my joints. I did somehow perform the feat of gaining seven pounds on this bloody steroid course...entirely in my face. *Shrugs*. Go figure. I gave up after one button on the cardigan because, arthritis. I have a heavy-breather ringing me on the phone of late. My number's unlisted, and I don't think I know them. We only have one telephone, on the main floor of the house. Needless to say, I'm a bit out of breath myself by the time I reach the phone. I'm so tempted to scream, ...

Shiny Things, etc.

Here's a photo-heavy post filled with lovely things to look at as I'm feeling a bit challenged for words at the moment.  Recently purchased baubles. The Sacred Heart bracelet had a D&G vibe to it, and with Autumn coming soon I like to pile on the velvet, gold, and rhinestones.  By the back of this piece, I suspect it is a fur clip-anyone have another theory? A hat perhaps?  Is this a hat box? I couldn't decide, but I bought it anyway as it reminded me a bit of my Nantucket Basket.  Brown is an underrepresented colour in my earrings.  Here's some of my compacts, though I couldn't locate my favourite a mid-50's Stratton with a floral enamel top. The black Stratton is from the 70's. The reddish compact is modern-from Sephora. The Guerlain in the upper right is 90's, The other two compacts are both vintage.  Originally the conmpact held small brushes on top...  And modular eye shadow and rouge in the bottom. Here's my little red camera in the reflect...

Baking-Figuratively and Literally

Greetings from my sunny kitchen.  What's cooking? At the moment, a peach pie. I hope they don't expect a proper meal as well-I haven't planned the day out that far yet. I wasn't kidding when I said the kitchen is sunny-see that glowing space beside me? That's with the blinds drawn. It can be annoying in the summer, but come December I'm happy to have a light-filled kitchen, even if only for a few hours. We're getting a temperature break today, but then we're back into the heat and humidity for at least another week. I took this break as an opportunity to wash and dry my hair because I know by mid-week no product on earth will combat the inevitable curls and frizz. Eh, that's why I have hats. I haven't been feeling motivated to do much, and with the car at the garage for repairs I have felt even less motivated. We did get out last weekend to see Dunkirk, but that was hardly a mood-lifter! I thought it was well done, but I'm also glad I didn...
