Clothes, Cake, and Cameras

Image
I apologise for the poor quality of these photos as they came off my phone. I've recently purchased a new camera, but haven't really had the time so sit down and get used to working with it. I appreciate your patience as I sort things through.  That beast weighs a tonne! I need a new tripod as my old one would never hold it-even without the lens and flash. Clearly more camera than I require, but it was too good of a deal to pass up.  So clothes. I've been wearing them, as you do.  This is a 70's polyester maxi dress and a 70's Ultrasuede coat. I paid $20.00 for the coat, which is much more than I would typically fork over for Ultrasuede. I made an exception because it fitted perfectly, and well...that blue! Yes, I have an Ultrasuede suit in the same shade of blue, but this is a full-length coat so...justified? I'm not convinced, but it is mine now and I plan to wear it to death as Ultrasuede knows no season. The basket bag is yet another Caro-Nan, this one from ...

Rocktober Rose

Yeah, yeah, I'm wearing brown again...but this time I've accented with rose. That's radical for me, so take a good look as it isn't likely to happen again. I don't know why I don't wear this combination more often, as it seems to work okay.  I ran across my shadow at the park. Hi shadow!  Oh shadow, that really isn't very polite!  Well, never mind her, she's obviously having a bad day. I like this park, there's so mushroom to play. You can groan at that one if you like. You're not actually groaning, are you?! I had lost my bracelet in the park, but returning the following day, I found it! Then, I promptly lost a brooch. I haven't found that unfortunately. The Fuzzy-Headed Twitcher found a rare bird (for our area) earlier this week. He's seen it twice since, but was only able to get one not-great photo. We're still waiting to see what the e-Bird people have to say. He's excited anyway, but we've been spending an awful lot of t...

Rejection-Praying Mantis Edition

Image
"Hey there good-lookin', do you have plans tonight?" "Bugger off." "Hey, wait-up, I just want to..." "I said, bugger off!" "Hey! OWWW!" " Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody..." I saw all this take place in the space of a few seconds. Clearly, the praying mantis wasn't in the mood to be bothered, and wasted no time ridding itself of the er...pest.  It was interesting how the rejected mantis ran off into the grass as the other stood in the centre of the sidewalk undisturbed by the foot traffic of students from the college. I know the praying mantis is no lightweight-Youtube is full of videos showing how they can sneak up a hummingbird feeder and grab dinner, but I never saw one in a fight like this. You can learn so much about nature just by looking around. Here, I'm noticing a yellow jacket wasp that thankfully was more interested in the flowers than me. They get aggressive this time of year as the fl...

"You Look Like a Lawyer on the Way to Sue Someone:"

Okay, but I'm billing for this time. I wasn't exactly offended by the observation as I was thinking this suit was a wee bit too professional looking for my life at the moment. I couldn't pass up a vintage Pendleton linen suit for $7.99, but I really don't have much occasion to wear it. The skirt will get tonnes of wear though. I recently bought a vintage Dior linen suit in pale pink that is also completely useless for me, but it was too good to skip. I'll try to get that one worn at least once before summer is over.  Outfit Particulars: Pendleton vintage linen suit-Goodwill Laura Ashley sleeveless top-Hand-Me-Ups Brooch-Hand-Me-Ups Earrings-Hand-Me-Ups Vintage clutch-Goodwill Shoes-K Mart Pearls-Filene's about 25 years ago Lippy-Revlon Super Lustrous in Siren (finally, the perfect coral shade for my skin tone!)
